Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
.........anyone know if it's just bad luck in the draw or do we get a choice? I thought being top seeds meant we play the 2nd leg at home if we want to.

2nd leg away is usually a disadvantage so this is why I ask.

Sorry if done already or if I've missed something here.

Just coincidence I guess, but it is a small disadvantage.

HOT BALLS

Must have been pre done as well as I'm sure they were saying we would be at home first next Thurs against the Romanians or ICT even around the first leg of the Malta game.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
isn't it to do with the higher seeds getting the home draw in the second leg or am i again talking utter fucking bollocks?

Watching the draw, its random.

Unless its rigged.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
That's why you'd think we'd be at home second against Andorrans, Maltesers & Romanians
Hasn't mattered til now but being in Romania on the Thurs before the season starts isn't ideal.

Surely the Romanians could play their home leg in Hyde Park?

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
The first 2 ties we couldn't play away first leg due to logistical problems for the opposition, this round is the first time we have been drawn at home without those problems

Aberdeen are a seeded team and they have played their first two ties away then home. Their next tie is also away then home.

Anything to do with the way we qualified through fair play?

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
We were originally drawn away first leg to Birkirkara but they switched the tie round.

All our Intertoto games in 1999 were home first leg as well.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
So they put two balls in a bowl

one containing the seeded team(s) number(s),
one containing the unseeded team(s) number(s)

They swish them around, presumable randomising them.

The first one they pull out is the home team in the first game.

Random, unless you think it is rigged.

FFS, We may well have been drawn away first leg for Lusitanos and Birkirkara but we couldn't play away due to logistical problems for both of those sides

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
Sorry there is only one number in each ball but it sometimes represent a bunch of teams if that is confusing.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
We were drawn away to Lusitanos first but that game was switched because the other Andorran side were also drawn at home and as they finished higher our game was switched.

We were then drawn away twice.....

It's luck, combined with set rules

First one - yes

Second - orginally at home.

You can see the results on the UEFA site still say we were drawn away in the first round. You can all watch the videos if really wanted too.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
Old man cough is wrong, the Malta tie was played as it was drawn.

It would have been switched if Valetta had have beaten a Welsh pubside as they finished 2nd but they didn't.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
OK so we have drawn at home twice for the first leg?

Nothing out of the ordinary there then

Didn't we have a terrible run of luck with away draws in the cups recently?

Shit happens in that regard

At least having the 2nd round away helps the travelling fans who have more time to book their trips.

Lets be honest we should have smashed both these no hopers at home and didn't

Off topic

The UEFA site has story on Southampton as they are entering the EL, complete with Bale in his original "earful" glory.

The surgeons earned their money.

It didn't in the case of Malta as the flights were more expensive
